Privacy Policy

Last Updated: March 23, 2026

ShroomVault, operated by Cardboard Social LLC ("we," "our," or "us"), is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how our application handles your data. ShroomVault is designed as a private digital journal — we do not store your personal foraging data on our servers.

1. Information We Collect and How We Use It

Location Data: ShroomVault requires access to your device's precise location to accurately map your finds and provide premium weather data. Precise location is essential to the core function of the app — logging exact coordinates where you discover mushrooms. When using the premium weather feature, your coordinates are transmitted securely to our weather service strictly to fetch real-time conditions. Your location data is processed ephemerally — it is never stored, logged, or retained on our servers. Location coordinates saved to your find entries are stored only on your device and in your personal cloud backups.

Camera and Photo Library: ShroomVault requests access to your device's camera and photo library to let you attach photos to your finds. Photos are stored locally on your device. We do not upload, access, or process your photos on any server.

Subscription Data: If you subscribe to ShroomVault Premium, your purchase is processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID and purchase receipt — it does not receive your name, email, or foraging data. If you redeem a gift key, the key is validated against our servers.

Usage and Crash Data: We use Google Analytics to collect anonymous diagnostic data, including crash reports, basic app usage metrics, and screen views. This data is aggregated and anonymous — it cannot be used to identify you personally. No foraging data, locations, or photos are included. This helps us identify bugs and improve app stability.

2. Data Storage and Cloud Backups

Your foraging pins, notes, and records are stored locally on your device. To prevent data loss, ShroomVault facilitates automatic backups by writing your data to a JSON file synced directly to your personal cloud storage (Google Drive or Apple iCloud). We do not have access to these files, your cloud accounts, or the data contained within them.

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data. You have the ability to manually export your data to share with others. Any sharing of data outside the app is done entirely at your own discretion.

4. Third-Party Services

ShroomVault uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

5. Data Deletion

All foraging data is stored on your device. You can delete individual finds, locations, or photos within the app at any time. To remove all data, simply uninstall the app. No data remains on our servers because we do not store it.

6. Children's Privacy and Age Requirements

ShroomVault is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Users between the ages of 13 and 17 should use ShroomVault only with parental or guardian awareness and guidance. Due to the inherent risks of foraging for wild mushrooms, we strongly recommend that minors use the app under adult supervision. Age verification may be required by your app store in accordance with applicable laws, including the Kansas App Store Accountability Act (SB 372) and similar state regulations.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted within the app and on our website. Continued use of ShroomVault after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
